No app, photo identification, or AI assistant can make a positive edibility determination for a wild mushroom. Misidentification of wild fungi can cause severe illness, organ failure, or death. Always complete a full physical examination — including spore print, habitat, and stipe base — and obtain expert confirmation before consuming any wild-foraged species. When in doubt, do not eat it.
By accessing or using Shae's Shrooms (the "App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the App.
The App provides mycology education, species reference information, identification guidance, foraging information, and an AI assistant for mycology-related questions. All content is provided for educational and informational purposes only.
The App does not provide:
The Mushroom Scan feature and the Ailah AI assistant use artificial intelligence to analyze photographs and suggest probable species identifications. These results are suggestions only, generated by a machine learning model that can be wrong, including in ways that could lead to severe illness or death if relied upon as a final identification.

The App contains educational content regarding psilocybin-containing species, Amanita muscaria, and other psychoactive fungi, including pharmacology, cultivation, harm reduction, and legal status information. This content is provided for harm reduction and educational purposes.
The legal status of psilocybin, psilocybin-containing mushrooms, and their cultivation varies significantly by jurisdiction and may carry serious legal consequences in your location. It is your sole responsibility to know and comply with the laws of your jurisdiction. The App does not encourage illegal activity and assumes no responsibility for your compliance, or non-compliance, with local law.
Information regarding medicinal mushroom compounds, evidence quality, and supplement evaluation is provided for educational purposes and is not medical advice. Consult a qualified healthcare provider before using any mushroom-derived supplement, particularly if you are pregnant, immunocompromised, taking prescription medications, or managing a chronic health condition.
Cultivation guidance, including sterile technique and substrate preparation, is provided for educational purposes. The App specifically warns that Galerina marginata and other deadly amatoxin-containing species can contaminate home cultivation setups and resemble cultivated edible and psychoactive species. You are responsible for applying the safety protocols described in the App (including spore print verification of any unexpected fruiting) to your own cultivation activities.
If you or someone else has consumed a wild mushroom and is experiencing any symptoms, or has consumed an unidentified mushroom regardless of symptoms, contact your local poison control center immediately (US/Canada: 1-800-222-1222) and seek emergency medical attention. Do not rely on the App for emergency guidance or as a substitute for professional medical care.
The App allows you to record foray logs, ID skills entries, and other personal notes. This content is stored locally on your device, as described in our Privacy Policy. You are solely responsible for the accuracy of any information you record.
The App may offer optional token purchases or feature unlocks processed through Google Play billing. All purchases are subject to Google Play's own terms and refund policies. Tokens and unlocks are tied to your local app session and device.
The App's content, design, and branding are the property of the App's developers. You may use the App for personal, non-commercial educational purposes. You may not reproduce, redistribute, or commercially exploit the App's content without permission.
The App is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose. Mycological taxonomy, regional species distribution, and toxicology research are subject to ongoing revision, and the App's content may not reflect the most current scientific consensus at all times.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developers of Shae's Shrooms shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to illness, injury, death, property damage, or legal consequences, arising from your use of the App or reliance on any information it contains.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the App's developer operates, without regard to conflict of law principles, except where local consumer protection law requires otherwise.
